Activities of Junior School

The generation next at S. D. Nopany Vidyalaya is full of life. Their work, their activities reflect their awareness to the world around. The primary section (Nursery to Class – V) of our school is well equipped to fulfill the dreams of the innumerous parents who have placed their children in our trusted hands. Apart from thematic teaching in all the subjects the school offers regular yoga, dance, music and skating classes.

Special stress is laid on the teaching of English – story telling, recitation, Group as well as Individual Reading, vocabulary. Every class has a book corner for the ready access to the students, which provides teacher-made books as well as books brought by the students themselves. We also have the school library with 15000 collection of books. Phonic teaching is introduced initially with words already known to the learner. Pictorial aids are provided and writing is used to assist retention of the sounds learnt. The sounds are applied in a meaningful reading situation directly. Each child maintains a "Word Book" where he writes all the "New Words" taught in the class. Apart from these the teachers use the good old Montessori method and various kinds of teaching aids to get the child interested.

Theme teaching is continued even in number work. Simple addition and subtraction can be done with winter fruits and vegetables. Equal importance is given to Mental Maths, Shapes, Money. These are introduced with concrete items, which the child feels and recognizes.

Environmental Education, Computer and G.K. is introduced in the primary level itself. Environmental Education makes the child aware of the society – good manners, good habits, traffic rules, festivals, looking after the environment. Various activities are associated with these subjects and each year we organize E.V.S. and Art Exhibitions, which showcases our students' general awareness and creativity. Celebrations like Independence Day, Republic Day, Foundation's Day, Teachers' Day, Children's Day, Parent's Day and other such activities are organized in a special way. Sports, games, handwriting, spelling, creative writing, reading, recitation compositions are held all the year round to encourage the students and to built them into confident citizens of tomorrow.
